Everyone is excited to face new challenges, opportunities and adventures for a new year and a new chapter of their lives. 2014 is not bad after all for some and this year will be a different story again. Although it is just a new month, date and year, still everyone is waiting for what will happen with their lives engaging the Year of the Sheep. As my family celebrates the New Years Eve, I have realized what we have is still a blessing and a gift from God even though it is not that plenty but at least there are few rather than having nothing. I could say that we are still blessed that we are safe from harm and danger from last year and even though there were ups and downs that had happened, it didn't stopped us to continuously dreaming and making it come true, and even though there are lots of problems that passed by at least it did not turns us into a negative person rather it made us tough and accept the challenges that come along. I wish that this year will be a good one to all of us. Happy New Year to Everyone!

He
He
by: Lesly Rodas
In
times of my troublesome moments,
Only
one person used to comfort me,
Who
gives me strength when I am weak,
Who
gives me hope when I am down.
Who
showed me the meaning of loving first thy self,
Who
explained how lucky I am to be loved by everyone,
Who’s
always there to give you chance,
Who
never quits giving you care.
He
who I really praise and adore,
All
those times that he was there for me,
Now
that I’m weak, feeling useless and restless,
Having
nothing but only Him.
I do
loved Him as He for me,
I do
think of Him as He for me,
I do
care of Him as He for me,
Just
because that He is God the almighty.
Hidden Love
Hidden Love
by: Lesly Rodas
Ikaw
ang pangarap na nais kong abutin,
But
perhaps I think it will just be a dream,
Bawat
minuto ikaw lang iisipin,
Though
for you it is all nothing.
Ako
ay seryoso sa nararamdaman sa iyo,
Even
if you don’t know I still love you,
Sadyang
kay hirap mabuhay sa mundong ito,
Especially
that I know that you don’t love me too.
Hanggang
kailan ako maghihintay,
Discovering
my feelings by and by,
Sana
naman makita mo sa aking direction,
That
all I have for you is a pure intention.
Sapagkat
ikaw ang pinakamahalagang tao,
Just
say those words and I will say I do,
Dahil
pangalan mo lang ang ibinubulong ng pusong ito,
For
I have felt this love towards only you.
Should You Become A Special Education Teacher?
Taking up a course like Special
Education can be a personal choice or not. Some says they took up this course
because their parents told them to do so or they really feel that their heart
belongs in teaching special children or the normal ones. Whatever may be the
reason behind these things, still the person is the one who is in charge into
his/her decision making, only the persons surrounding him/her are the second
decision maker if he/she don’t know what to decide of afterwards. Before or
after schooling, I’m already prepared for what may be the kind of job that
awaits me. I already undergone working before for about two years, and
honestly, working is not really that simple especially that aside from that, I
also go to school. It requires me to move and work faster than the normal
thing. Maybe I can portray myself working on a different job before I will
settle down in my beloved profession “teaching.” But whatever may be that job
is, surely I will accept it wholeheartedly.
A kind of characteristics that a
Special Education teacher must have in order to be effective in his/her job
should be patient enough in times of understanding his/her special learners
especially doing some activities that they can’t immediately cope up,
enthusiastic so that even to the hardest point of dealing this children, he/she
will not think of giving up his/her profession but will love it and will be
devoted to it, creative enough so that teaching them some various basic lessons
will not only be that simple but can look more beautiful and can really capture
their attention, flexible whenever some unexpected circumstances when the
lessons did not go in the way they were prepared, empathy on understanding the
emotions and difficulties of some certain situations to help his/her students,
and so on and so forth. If I were to ask, if do I have what it takes to be an
effective and successful special education teacher, my answer will be that I do
have some of those characteristics but compared to a child, my level of being
good is still in the high school level, I still need to do more learning’s and
sharpen my skills to produce a better and responsible teacher.
Going through
the movie, “The Wild Child,” the teacher there portrays the characteristics of
an effective special education teacher, maybe the kind of teaching that they
have in their times is different today, still he is effective in his way to let
an ordinary child be an extraordinary child afterwards. His empathy to the child
is the number one key why he is really patient enough to change the child and
show to the world that this child has the privilege to live like normal ones.
The child there in the movie cannot walk, talk, read and write but when Doctor
Itard as his teacher intervene him by educating him like some basic ones at
first made him at the end as a normal child and will never been called as a
wild child. Then Madam Guerin as a personal assistant of Doctor Itard in his
house is really humble and patient especially when Victor as the child entered
to their home to be educated for about countable months.
I learn from the movie
that being a Special Education teacher is not really that simple in their times
because not all learning materials are being given, it’s for you to find out.
But despite the difficulty of assessing the child, Doctor Itard is patient
enough because he believe that there is a miracle that will happen, it’s just
for him to work patient and neglect the word quit especially that he knows that
the child really needed his help even though without the child telling it to
him. For me, just love your profession, so that your profession will also love
you the way you want it to be.
